Amici del Cowo al FuoriSalone 2012: Stefano Maffei.
Stefano Maffei è il super prof di Design che ha curato la mostra Analogico Digitale, di cui abbiamo già parlato, insieme a Stefano Micelli.
Il team di Stefano ha lavorato in quartiere, creando una forma di coworking allargato che ha coinvolto anche noi, fin dalle settimane precedenti l’evento, svoltosi poi in via Conte Rosso 22, a pochi passi dal Cowo.
Abbiamo imparato molto da Stefano e dal suo progetto che ha saputo coinvolgere con entusiasmo artigiani, designer, curatori e associazioni di categoria in un solo grande “coworking di fatto”.

Amici di Cowo al FuoriSalone 2012: Nicola Zago.
Anche se il FuoriSalone è finito, è piacevole appuntare in questo diario che dura da ben tre edizioni del FuoriSalone chi è venuto a trovarci.
Questo post è dedicato a Nicola Zago, persona speciale per Cowo visto che per ben due edizioni di Fuorisalone (2010 e 2011) ha anche sponsorizzato il nostro progetto in forma di tavoli Lago.
Nel 2010, inoltre, Nicola ha parlato al CowoCamp, raccontando alla community dei coworker il progetto “Appartamento Lago”, lanciato appunto in quei giorni. In questo video di ben 25 minuti c’è tutto :-)
Amici del Cowo al FuoriSalone 2012: Laura Rota e Paolo D’Altan.
La famiglia di Laura Rota e Paolo D’Altan - cowomanager di Cowo Milano/Romolo oltre che affermati professionisti dell’illustrazione e graphic design con il loro Studio Rebelot - ha trascorso alcune piacevoli ore con noi al FuoriSalone VenturaLambrate.
Una tranquilla domenica pomeriggio in cui il divertimento delle installazioni e dei progetti esposti ha coinvolto anche i nostri ragazzi (nella foto, Paolo con la figlia Anna).
Grazie della visita, vi aspettiamo presto da queste parti: il 19 maggio, per il CowoCamp!

L’autore del best-seller “Futuro Artigiano” è un amico del Cowo da quando il nostro spazio di Via Ventura 3 a Lambrate ha ospitato una sua intervista.
E’ stata una bella occasione per raccontargli il nostro progetto, e ci ha fatto molto piacere rivederlo ieri, nell’ambito del FuoriSalone VenturaLambrate.
Naturalmente, non è mancato chi, riconoscendolo, ha estratto la sua copia del libro per farselo autografare… e noi abbiamo immortalato il momento :-)
Thinking about 2012.
The organization machine is working already… six months is not a long time when you have to carefully plan events that involve 60,000 visitors, over 1,000 journalists, hundreds of designer etc…
However, it’s great to be involved with this big VenturaLambrate adventure, and Cowo will try hard to keep the good up the work we did in 2011, giving Wi-Fi coverage to our locations in the area (Cowo Milano/Lambrate and Cowo Lambretto coworking spaces), providing free coworking facilites for whoever wanted to sit down and work in a professional environment and… who knows what else we will think of!
So, stay tuned friends! :-)
The free Wi-Fi provided to the Cowo Fuorisalone community @ Ventura Lambrate: the numbers.
Thanks to our Wi-Fi partners SimpleSpot (see our video-interview, in Italian, to one of the founders, who visited us on the first day of Fuorisalone) we were able to offer a free, fast and reliable connection to the Internet to all the guests who stepped in our coworking place in the Lambretto premises.
As a matter of fact, the Wi-Fi aspect of our initiative was definitely the most appreciated, leaving behind the use of desks (consider, in this respect, that many visitors would navigate and check mail directly on their smart phones, while sitting on a chair, or walking around).
SimpleSpot’s Martino Massalini just gave us the numbers of the connections made:
126 logins have been made during the 5 days by 32 users, who have overall viewed more than 7,000 pages.
Besides these figures, we would like to stress the fact that all connections went very smoothly, above expectations (for instance, no one of us would have believed that the signal would reach the nearby area of the camping… well, it did!), and that the fact that most users had non-Italian phones was no problem at all, thanks to perfect international standard of the SimpleSpot platform.
For these reasons, the Fuorisalone experience has been an excellent test for the platform recently developed by these Pesaro guys… well done SimpleSpot! :-)
Today’s surprise…
Someone stopped by our place last night, and left a little surprise on our door!
Intervista al nostro Wi-Fi partner: Martino Massalini di SimpleSpot.
Se c’è un protagonista dell’esperienza “Coworking Fuorisalone”, è lui: il Wi-Fi.
I visitatori del Fuorisalone sono in gran parte stranieri, ed alcuni ci hanno confidato il disagio provato nel non aver visto (online prima di partire, e poi dal vivo, una volta arrivati) nessuna rete di Wi-Fi disponibile in Italia.
Nè aeroporto, né zone pubbliche, nulla.
Quindi i complimenti ricevuti da Cowo per l’iniziativa “Free desk, Free Wi-Fi” si sono sprecati… molti degli utenti Cowo di questi giorni sono designer e professionisti che espongono nelle molte iniziative qui in zona Ventura Lambrate, e per loro è di fondamentale importanza poter verificare online gli sviluppi dei numerosissimi contatti personali che si prendono in questi giorni – a livello personale, ma anche e soprattutto professionale e commerciale.
Il constatare che in Italia navigare su Internet continua ad essere una cosa complicata e difficile non ci fa figurare bene, sullo scenario globale.
Anche per questo pensiamo che iniziative come quella di SimpleSpot HotSpot Wi Fi - Wi-Fi partner di Cowo per la settimana del Fuorisalone – siano da sostenere in tutti i modi.
Martino Massalini, uno dei fondatori di SimpleSpot, è venuto a trovarci il primo giorno del Fuorisalone, e ci ha rilasciato un’intervista dove racconta il suo progetto di Wi-Fi libero.
Vorremmo ringraziare Martino e SimpleSpot per averci permesso di dare un servizio molto importante, e per aver condiviso in pieno lo spirito Cowo.
Nota bene: SimpleSpot funziona benissimo, abbiamo potuto testare anche la sua nuova funzionalità da cellulari non italiani, constatando che… non perde un colpo.
(Per chi volesse incontrare Martino, è quasi certa la sua presenza al CowoCamp2011 di sabato prossimo…).
From coworking to megaparty, and back.
Last night the premises of our Coworking Fuorisalone at the Lambretto (Ventura Lambrate design district) have hosted a super-party, with deejay set and an amazing, international crowd, coming from all over the city to celebrate the new Fruit of the Forest design magazine.
It was quite a storm that took away our quiet, efficient, Wi-Fi powered coworking situation, as described by this picture taken yesterday at 1 am…
…turning it into a high-volume, crowded and crazy disco floor (12 pm)…
…to come to its original function few hours later, ready for the first coworkers at 9.30 am (even though on temporary tables)!
Eventually, the Lago tables were put back in place before noon, with the help of the people in the space, so everything was back to normal well before lunch time.
What a tour de force!
The many wonders of Ventura Lambrate 2011 is no magic. It’s the careful work of a fine team.
